Day Care at Urban Out Sitters

Our Day Care is much more than a daycare/boarding facility, we offer a healthy outlet for a dog's natural energies, instincts and behavior. At Urban Out Sitters dogs can socialize together in a cage-free environment.

Our play groups range in size, consisting of small breeds, puppies, and larger breeds. We structure groups by size and chemistry - strategically placing a dog within the right setting to maximize better socialization. Every dog is tempermant tested to determine placement within either group. By allowing a cage-free enviornment, it is vital for us to enroll well-adjusted, non-aggressive dogs and control each play groups dynamic.

Puppy Socialization (potty training, correct destructive behavior)

Adolescent Socialization (exercising, playing, correct anti-social behavior)

Mature and Elderly Socialization (stimulating and enriching quality of life).

Typical Day

Arrival
We have two different ways dogs arrive into our facilities. Clients drop-off or utilize our transportation service. As soon as our doors open, we are immediately ready for our visitors to have a full day of play, stimulation and romping with playmates. Every dog arrives for Day Care pulling their way into our facility.

Clients may provide a breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack and we will administer all feedings separate to avoid possible food aggression. (We prefer zip lock bags, along with your pets name written on it)

Every dog is escorted into the facility. Clients may choose to take or leave their dog's lead, harness or doggie coats for us to manage. We will keep them organized until your return. We do ask that every dog wears a collar with tags.

Activity
Every dogs energy and play is different - some run, play, wrestle, chase, play hide and seek, snuggle up together, or simply hang out with their friends and our staff. Some take naps by their own free will; while others take advantage of a full day to play. We always have some form of activity in motion. Clients may watch their dog on our webcams to observe their dog's activity.

During the day, we constantly supervise our dogs by a team of trained and experienced attendants. Their main responsibility is to watch play activity, monitor for safety, and supply continuous access to drinking water. It is important for them to notate any abnormal behavior, digestive issues, early onset of illiness, changes in mood, or signs of fatigue. When we notice a change in one of "our" dogs' behavior, we're the first to let the owner know.

Even with our constant cleaning regime within our facilities - every attendant knows the importance to keep a dog clean. We do baths or brush outs so each dog is presentable to go home. We know that even the hardcore player has a bad fur day.

Departure
We have two different ways dogs depart our facilities. Clients pick-up or utilize our transportation service. Every dog leaves from a full day of play, stimulation and romping with playmates.

Every dog is escorted from the facility. If a client left their dog's lead, harness or doggie coats for us, we will assist with dressing.

At the end of the day, our hope is your best friend will be tired from a day of activity. We are sure after a long day of work - you'll enjoy a more peaceful evening at home to unwind.

Timid, Fearful and Unsocialized Dogs

Our Day Care staff will recognize, deal with, and assist with deferring issues before they become problems. The careful introduction of new dogs is part of this skill. Each new dog is given a temperment test, an evaluation and introduction within a group. We try them with different size dogs and play groups to decifer proper placement.

Timid, unsocialized dogs are introduced at their own pace - in some cases, taking as long as two weeks to adjust to a new environment. If a dog isn’t able to become comfortable with other dogs, we’ll explain to the owner that the Day Care environment is simply not in their dog’s best interest; however, we’ve found that many unsocialized dogs can become more comfortable, learn to behave, and even make friends. In some cases our dog walking service becomes the ideal alternative.
